I was having a lot of difficulty with learning how to time my movements while swimming, particularly with breaststroke. Marni was helping me by repeating "pull kick reach pull kick reach." I found that I still was just flopping around in the water. I tried to put it on terms that I really understand. I thought of the movements as rhythm and put the stroke in a 6/8 time signature. I "pull" on the "one, two, three" and kick on the four and glide on the five six. (That is a crazy sentence.) Jesse and I then tried to think of songs that were in 6/8 that I could think of while swimming. The one that we thought of was the Weezer song "No other one." Any one have any other suggestions of songs that are in 6/8?
Over the course of our vacation I heard a story about one of our friends. I was told that he and his wife were able to recycle and compost almost all of their trash leaving only one bag of garbage a month. I recycle but have never been very consistent. Nothing really motivates me more than a challenge. I know that with 7 people living under one roof it is impossible to only have one bag of trash a month but maybe I can get it down to one can a week. A couple new life style changes: -I bought a bunch of nice micro fiber rags and haven't used a paper towel since Saturday -Made a paper trash bag next to my regular trash can -Noticing and savoring ever time I realize that "that plastic I can recycle" (duuhh...yogut tubs!) -I bought my first reusable grocery bag -I bought a diva cup
Marni and I decided to do a triathlon this summer. I kind of can't believe it. I have until August 3 to learn how to swim (well), bike 15 miles and run 3 all in one stretch. I think I can do it. It will be a lot of training. Ha! Crazy! The best part will be getting matching singlets. woohoo
